NeMO Clinical Center Trento is a reference point for the treatment of neuromuscular diseases for pediatric and adult age for the Autonomous Province of Trento and Triveneto.
NeMO Trento is located on the ground floor of the “Villa Rosa” rehabilitation hospital in Pergine Valsugana. Its opening is the result of a public-private management experimentation agreement between the Autonomous Province of Trento, the APSS – Provincial Agency for Health Services and Serena Onlus Foundation (managing body of NeMO Clinical Centers in Italy). The close relationship between the institutions represents an important element that ensures high standards in clinical activity from diagnosis, to therapy, to taking care of the patient and enhances the rehabilitation and occupational therapy skills of the territory.
NeMO Clinical Center Trento inaugurated its spaces in February 2021 and is led by the Clinical Management of Dr. Riccardo Zuccarino. It has an agreement with the University of Parma and the University of Verona.

I Centri Clinici NeMO operano in ambito sanitario-riabilitativo, in regime di ricovero ordinario, day hospital e ambulatoriale, e le prestazioni sono erogate in accreditamento con i Servizi Sanitari Regionali.
Le nostre liste d’attesa sono gestite secondo il Piano Nazionale di Governo delle Liste d’Attesa (PNGLA) 2026-2028 e il Decreto 26 giugno 2026, che prevede tra l’altro l’indicazione obbligatoria della classe di priorità sulla prescrizione del medico.
Per le visite e gli esami ambulatoriali, la classe di priorità indicata in ricetta stabilisce il tempo massimo di attesa, calcolato dal momento della richiesta: U (urgente) entro 72 ore; B (breve) entro 10 giorni; D (differibile) entro 30 giorni per le visite ed entro 60 per gli esami strumentali; P (programmabile) entro 120 giorni. Le prescrizioni senza classe di priorità sono considerate programmabili.
Per i ricoveri le classi sono quattro: A entro 30 giorni, B entro 60 giorni, C entro 180 giorni, D senza attesa massima definita ma comunque entro 12 mesi.
Ogni richiesta viene valutata dal Servizio di Accettazione e, se idonea, inserita in lista d’attesa.
L’ordine di ingresso dipende prima di tutto dall’urgenza sanitaria e solo in seconda battuta dalla data della domanda.
Nel definirlo teniamo conto della complessità sanitaria, della fragilità della rete sociale, della continuità assistenziale, dell’ordine cronologico di presentazione e della residenza.
Hanno priorità le persone che si trovano in prossimità dell’evento indice, sono totalmente dipendenti nelle attività quotidiane, presentano condizioni non gestibili a domicilio o hanno subito un ricovero per evento acuto che ne ha ridotto ulteriormente l’autonomia.

It is among the centers recognized by the Italian CMT network.
It is a Provincial Auxiliary Center and a reference point for national patient associations and NeMO members.
In particular for the regional section of AISLA Onlus, the UILDM headquarters in Bolzano and the territorial representatives of Famiglie SMA.
It is active in the organization of thematic congresses SoloLavorando Assieme and National Day of Neuromuscular Diseases in collaboration with CIBIO and CNR.

Riccardo Zuccarino is a physician specialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has been a part of the NeMO Clinical Centers since 2011, serving as the Physiatrist-in-Charge at the Arenzano location, and he currently holds the position of Clinical Director at NeMO Clinical Center in Trento.
He returned to Italy after spending 2 years in the USA, from 2018 to the summer of 2020, at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. During his time there, he coordinated an international research group focused on a hereditary peripheral neuropathy known as Charcot-Marie-Tooth.
He is a member of the Inherited Neuropathy Consortium, the Peripheral Nerve Society, and the European Reference Network. Dr. Zuccarino also serves as a clinical consultant for AISLA - the Italian Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association's Listening Center.
Dr. Zuccarino describes his approach to rehabilitation: "For a person with a neuromuscular condition, the rehabilitation journey goes beyond motor aspects; rehabilitation is a rehabilitation of life. It is a pact of alliance made together, between doctor and patient, because every movement we work on has immeasurable value in maintaining the need for autonomy and living a life with dignity."
